2.6 PC-BSD(R) Live Mode

Live Modeは、USBメディアだけで利用可能な、読み書き可能なライブイメージです。 これは持ち運びできるPC-BSD(R)を意味し、オペレーティングシステムのスティックに似ています｡ 圧縮を展開したライブイメージは､最低で8GBの大きさのUSBデバイスが必要です。 しかしながら、あなたが保存したいと思うファイルとインストールしたいと思うアプリケーションが入る十分な大きさを提供できるUSBデバイスに書き込みたいと思うでしょう｡

Live Mode is a read-write live image that is only available for USB media. It is meant to be a portable version of PC‑BSD®, similar to an operating system on a stick. The uncompressed live image requires a USB device that is at least 8GB in size. However, you will want to write it to a USB device that will provide sufficient room for the files that you wish to save and any applications that you wish to install.

注意: PC-BSD(R)のライブイメージには､インストーラは含まれません｡ これは、持ち運びできるライブイメージをほしいと思うユーザのためにライブイメージのサイズを減らすためです。 インストーラを含んだものが欲しい場合､DVDかUSBイメージを代わりにダウンロードするべきです｡ また、Live Mode の速度は、USB デバイスの性能に依存します。 デバイスを購入するときには、「高速 ("high speed")」 と書かれているものを探しましょう。

NOTE: the PC‑BSD® live image does not include an installer. This is to reduce the size of the live image for users who want to have a live portable system. If you prefer to have an installer included, you should instead download the DVD or USB image. Also, the speed of Live Mode is dependent upon the quality of the USB device. If you are purchasing a device, look for one that is advertised as “high speed”.

To use PC‑BSD® Live Mode, download the live USB version. Once you have written the image file to a USB media, boot the system with the USB device inserted. Assuming your BIOS has been set to boot from that device, you should see some startup messages. The first time you boot the image, the boot process will pause with this message:

あなたのハードウエアに最適な画面解像度を選択する時に、 ライブモードになるのに成功したことがわかるでしょう。

You will know that you have successfully entered live mode when you are asked to accept the graphics resolution mode that is considered to be optimal for your hardware.

初回起動の場合、「インストール後の設定画面 (post-installation configuration screens)」の作業で始まり、「ログインする (Logging In)」で終わります。

If this is your first boot, you will then proceed through the post-installation configuration screens, ending in the Logging In screen.

ログインの時には、作成したユーザアカウントとパスワードを使います。 Fluxbox, LXDE, Openboxの3つのデスクトップ環境が利用できます。

When logging in, use the user account and password that you were prompted to create. Three desktops are available: Fluxbox, LXDE, and Openbox.
